There are two spiritual dangers in not owning a farm - one is the danger of supposing breakfast comes from the grocery, and the other that heat comes from the furnace - Aldo Leopold

May 21, 2008 – Final Connections for Skystream

Filed under: Farm - All, Wind Turbine — highhopesgardens @ 4:20 am

Nothing nearly as exciting as yesterday’s tower raising tody.

Making the trench to run the underground wire from the tower to the utility pole.

The trench from the utility pole and along the shed.

The other half of the trench. I’m including these more for my own records so years from now I won’t have to say “Now where did that underground wire go when there is more building or trenching on the farm.

Unrolling the wire along the path.

Todd’s working on the prep work for the connections at the base of the tower.

Local master electrician installing the connections on the utility pole.

  1. Wow! This is so exciting to see all the progress at HHG. Congrats on the new turbine and attic redux. How does your garden grow? Living in a rental w/o access to a garden causes one to live vicariously through others…

  2. The trenching reminds me of when I was a kid and the wire had to be replaced between the powerline pole and the house after a rodent decided to chew through it.
