The story of the Mariah Power wind turbine was not as
successful as the Skystream. We won a farm energy demonstration grant to compare the two types of designs on one site. The idea was that farmers and others could get access to real production stats, instead of relying on the manufacturer.
November 2009, I put down a deposit equal to half the installed cost
of the turbine. I was told the machine should arrive in 2-3
weeks. It didn't and then a long, snowy winter set in.
Install dates were promised throughout the spring, summer, and fall,
but the turbine never arrived.
Finally, I asked for my money back as it seemed like the product
would not arrive and my deposit was tied up for 14 months without
any action. Finally, the deposit was returned in a couple of
payments over two months.
