Sheep are an example of one feature that fulfills multiple roles. The lambs keep down the grass between the outbuildings and in the pasture, and provide meat, fertilizer, and tanned sheepskins.
Here's some sheep getting a special treat - an old fenceline mulberry. Mulberry has more protein than alfalfa and is easier to digest.
We recently took the foray into keeping ewes over the winter and trying to get sheep that meet our operating conditions through selection. We started with 4 kathadin ewes. We like katahdins because they are hair sheep which means they don't need to be sheared or have their tails docked.
