This is a tool for grabbing carp as they spawn (or small children as they run off in public). You pull the jaws open past 90 degress and the arms on the side are then spring loaded. When you press the center point against the fish (or small child) the jaws close securing your prey ( or offspring). Nice looking tool.

I’m really not sure what it is – it was on the wall at Kawishiwi Lodge – I thought it might be a logging tool, but can’t find any others to confirm. I’ll go with a fish/child picker!
