July 26, 2008 – Reiman Gardens

On Martin’s special request, yesterday was a gj and Martin at Rieman Gardens in Ames day.

Reiman Gardens are Iowa’s largest public gardens, with 11 themed gardens.

Along with the gardens is a butterfly conservatory, thus the appropriately-themed chair in the garden.

Martin took some photos, including this texture-rich photo of a tropical leaf in the conservatory.

One of the butterflies in the conservatory.

  1. If you ever travel through St. Louis, Mo. you should stop and visit the Mo. Botanical Gardens (Shaw’s Gardens). They seem very simular. The Botanical Gardens have themed areas as well as a Climatron, as they call it. A huge climate controled dome set to a rain forest and a believe a desert area also. It is a beatutiful place, I can understand Martin’s joy with Reiman gardens.

  2. Wayne,

We have visited the Botanical Gardens in St. Louis, but that was B.K. before kids, so it’s been over a decade!
